Finding your inner strength through yoga.Pose of the Day
Try waking up and giving yourself a challenge. Today’s pose, Dolphin Pose, helps calm your brain while strengthening your arms and legs. First start off on your hands and knees. Slowly lower onto your forearms, curl your toes and then lift your knees off of the floor. You should feel this in the backs of your legs. Don’t immediately straighten your legs. Use the breathe to help you as you keep your knees bent, and slowly straighten your legs. This may take a little time to get your legs all the way straight, but the stretch is well worth it.
Add this pose to your daily routine, and you will start to feel more calm, relaxed, and strong.
Pose of the day
Start your day off with the Big Mind Meditation pose (Dhyana). This pose will help you get in touch with your Controller, or ego. In this pose, you get centered, taking a few deep breaths, and asking to speak with your Controller. Take a moment to get to know your Controller. Ask it what it’s job is, what it ultimately controls. This may take a few tries before your Controller responds.
This pose ultimately allows you to speak to the various inner voices within you. You will be able to converse with them, solving any hidden issues going on that you may not know about. You can do this any time of the day to help with any unresolved issues. Give it a try!
Get your heart in gear…
As you may or may not know, yoga actually helps tremendously with high cholesterol and other heart problems. It’s not the specific poses, or at least that’s what I think. I think it is how you perform each pose which gives you these benefits. But, if you are prone to have high blood pressure, be wary, there are some risks when practicing yoga.
According to a blog post from MyYogaOnline.com, when the body is inverted to the point of having the head below the heart, it causes the blood to rapidly rush to the brain. If you already have this problem, then the yoga poses can possibly make matters worse. If you have some concerns about this, I highly recommend you check out the website for some good information, and some good poses that help alleviate this problem. Just go here.
Pose of the day
This is one of my favorite poses. Warrior II pose helps not only to stretch your leg muscles, but does a tremendous job when it comes to strengthening your muscles. If done properly, you will definitely be able to feel the results. If you have flat feet like I do, then you will definitely benefit from this pose, because it helps to strengthen the arches in your feet while building strength in your ankles, setting up a good foundation. Try this one today to give yourself a challenge.
Step by Step
Stand in Tadasana. With an exhalation, step or lightly jump your feet 3 1/2 to 4 feet apart. Raise your arms parallel to the floor and reach them actively out to the sides, shoulder blades wide, palms down.
Turn your right foot in slightly to the right and your left foot out to the left 90 degrees. Align the left heel with the right heel. Firm your thighs and turn your left thigh outward so that the center of the left knee cap is in line with the center of the left ankle.
Exhale and bend your left knee over the left ankle, so that the shin is perpendicular to the floor. If possible, bring the left thigh parallel to the floor. Anchor this movement of the left knee by strengthening the right leg and pressing the outer right heel firmly to the floor.
Stretch the arms away from the space between the shoulder blades, parallel to the floor. Don’t lean the torso over the left thigh: Keep the sides of the torso equally long and the shoulders directly over the pelvis. Press the tailbone slightly toward the pubis. Turn the head to the left and look out over the fingers.
Stay for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Inhale to come up. Reverse the feet and repeat for the same length of time to the left.
So long backpackers, hello yogis
I read this article about travellers who take train to Peru to visit Machu Picchu. A recent wave of tourists are starting to shell out literally thousands of dollars to go on this trip. Normally a trip for backpackers, this trip is starting to do a 180, bringing in more upper class styles of travel. Travellers have begun to take trains or stay at high end hotels which offer everything from first class dining to yoga. Yes, yoga. Yoga is starting to appear everywhere around the world.
This article isn’t necessarily focused on the practice of yoga, but I was happy to know that whether I am in the comfort of my own home, or due to some act of sponteneity, decide to travel to a far away place, I know I will be able to practice anywhere (see how I tied that idea together?). Plus, it’s just an interesting article. Take a look. Enjoy.
Hello world!
Welcome to my multimedia project. This site is dedicated to the practice of yoga. Search around, learn a few things, and click on the links to be directed elsewhere for more information!

Silly Yogis
Fastest yoga ever seen
I found this, and thought it was fun to put up. It’s sped up to make it seem like they are dancing, but you still get a chance to see some of the poses that can be accomplished through the practice of yoga. Enjoy.
